Our History

Collins Hospital for Animals has a rich and long history of providing high quality veterinary health care to the District of Columbia community since 1917. Originally operated by Dr. William P. Collins as a carriage trade practice, Dr. Collins established the hospital as a small animal clinic after WWI. On his retirement in the 1950's, Dr. Collins sold the practice to Dr. Jean S. Goudy one of the first women veterinarians to graduate in the United States. Subsequently the hospital was sold to Dr. Joanne O'Brien, a renowned Chow breeder and show judge. She operated the hospital until her retirement in 1987 when the hospital was sold to its current owner Dr. Lynne D. Cabaniss.

It is now operated by Dr. Lynne Cabaniss and her associate Dr. Jay Merker with a dedicated staff that is here to service your needs.
